Pilots needed in busy Asian market
    North Carolina Daily
    Tuesday 7th September, 2010

An increase in Asian travel has seen a greater need for pilots.

The Asian travel boom has created a shortage of staff, with most airlines in the region ramping up job ads for trained pilots.

It has been estimated that airlines worldwide will need an average of 49,900 pilots a year from 2010 to 2030 as fleets expand.

In the Asian region at the moment, Asia-Pacific airlines are expected to buy about 8,000 planes worth $1.2 trillion over the next 20 years, and are currently awaiting deliveries of about 400 planes to capitalize on Asia’s rising prosperity.

Aviation forecasters have said there will be a shortage of pilots for some time, as it takes time to produce good pilots.

There have been suggestions that some serious shortages have occured among some foreign carriers who can’t afford to pay what it takes to attract qualified pilots.
